Mid-Continent Group has traditionally written the “hard-to-place” general liability risks in the admitted arena. We have now expanded that offering to include the Excess and Surplus Lines market. This will create new opportunities for both Mid-Continent retail and wholesale agents.

To agent partners with established surplus lines protocols, procedures and licenses; we offer access to our E&S products through direct contracts with Mid-Continent Excess & Surplus Lines Company. Mid-Continent Excess & Surplus Insurance Company is licensed in 48 states. It is an underwriter of commercial casualty business with a focus on General Liability on a non-admitted basis.

As a placement alternative, and as a further convenience to our agents, we’re also formed a wholly owned wholesale agency called Mid-Continent Specialty Insurance Services. This unique arrangement will allow our agency partners direct access to the surplus lines market without the need to broker business through the traditional wholesale broker/retail agent model. Mid-Continent Specialty will provide all the necessary surplus lines licenses and will handle all the surplus lines procedures, including the remittance of taxes and forms to the respective states.

Our primary focus for the E&S Company is on risks that are driven by General Liability. Many of our recent successes include contracting services, sports/leisure and recreation and special events. Download our special events PDF to learn more. Some examples of these include tree trimming, roofing contractors, athletic programs, guided services, campgrounds, flea markets, auctioneers, and pawn shops.

Special Events Information

Mid-Continent E&S doesn’t compete with other Mid-Continent companies. In E&S we are striving to compliment the standard admitted market by providing coverage for those risks that the admitted underwriters currently can’t provide, due to specific exposure as well as rate and form limitations. The underwriting process is identical to those of your admitted underwriter. We require completed applications, loss runs and operation descriptions.
